The first ATD Macau Summit concluded successfully!

On April 18-19, 2024, ATD and Wynn Macau, Limited, the winner of the 2023 ATD BEST Award, co-organized the “ATD Macau Summit and ATD x Wynn Asia-Pacific CLO Forum”.

This is the first time that ATD organizes the event in Macau. The two-day event is supported by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), and the Macao Education and Youth Development Bureau. This event brings together almost 200 senior talent development executives and senior professionals from leading firms across the Asia-Pacific region, including China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia to explore cutting-edge technologies and share best practices.

The opening ceremony for the talent development event was held on April 19 at the Wynn Palace Grand Theater Ballroom. The ceremony was officiated by Ms. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of MGTO; Ms. Elaine Wong, Executive Director of the Board of Directors of IPIM; Ms. Cheong Man Fai, Head of the Department of Youth of Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao SAR Government; Dr. Wei Wang, Senior Director of ATD Global; and Ms. Linda Chen, President and Vice Chairman of the Board of Wynn Macau, Limited presided over the opening ceremony.

Also speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Wei Wang of ATD Global said: “I wish to thank Wynn for hosting the first ATD Macau Summit which focuses on ‘Applying Learning Technology and Innovation in Talent Development’. The Summit aims to explore how learning technologies can best support the work we do in talent development to help learners, leaders, and organizations quickly seize new opportunities that make an impact.”

ATD also awarded Wynn the “ATD 2024 Global Champion Award” in recognition of Wynn's continued advancement of learning and development and for its ongoing support of community collaboration and innovation for boosting global talent development.

Many international experts in the field of talent development shared their insights during the forum and summit. The event featured two keynote speakers on both days – Ms. Megan Torrance, CEO and Founder of TorranceLearning and Mr. Bob Gerard, Director of Learning Ingenuity at Accenture. Ms. Torrance talked about the trends of “Learning Technology in Action” and implementing a strategic roadmap for the Learning Technology ecosystem, while Mr. Gerard shared how Accenture internally designs engaging learning journeys that have a lasting positive impact on learners.

The event also invited Mr. Victor Zhang, President of Huawei University to talk about Huawei University’s enterprise enablement exploration in the era of AI. Two experts from South Korea – Mr. Chan Lee, Professor of Vocational Education and Workforce Development for Seoul National University and Ms. Jae Eun Kim, CEO of Incoaching, explained how behavioral science assessments are crucial in driving digital transformation.

ATD x Wynn Asia-Pacific CLO Forum

ATD CLO Forum is a high-end closed learning opportunity created by ATD for talent development leaders such as corporate TD directors, LD directors, CLO, deans of corporate business schools, etc. The forum invites well-known experts and scholars from home and abroad to share their experiences and includes a large number of co-creative sessions such as enterprise practice discussions and roundtable discussions, providing executives with efficient and valuable learning and communication opportunities in a short period of time.

On April 18, the day before the ATD Macau Summit, the "ATD x Wynn Asia-Pacific CLO Forum" was held at the Wynn Palace Meeting Rooms. More than 50 TD leaders and experts from leading companies in the Asia-Pacific region, including China, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Malaysia, were invited to participate in the event.

The morning began with a welcome speech by Dr. Barry Ip, Vice President of Learning and Advancement of Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace; Dr. Wang Wei, ATD Global Senior Director, took the stage to deliver a speech and share the core data of ATD's latest research report and key trends in the international TD industry.

Ms. Megan Torrance, CEO and Founder of TorranceLearning, then discussed with leaders the new technologies that are shaping learning in the workplace and how TD leaders can play a role in adopting these technologies at a strategic level in their companies. Mr. Bob Gerard, Director of Learning Ingenuity at Accenture, shared how Accenture is practicing "Work-Learning Fusion" to improve learner performance in a tangible way.

In the afternoon, the leaders had a lively group discussion on different learning technologies and presented their insightful presentations. After the presentation, Wynn took the leaders on a tour of the Wynn Palace and hosted an executive dinner.
